We are presently involved with the "Overcomers" program here on the BIC
Mission where I am teaching a class called "Creation to the Cross".
This session started out with seven men and we lost one but we believe God
is still working with him and we know he is working with the six that are
still here in the program. Each one I believe is being challenged by
all the classes taught here. I am excited with each class to see in their eyes the revelation of who Jesus Christ truly is. By the season's
end (two more weeks) hopefully they will have allowed God to take full
control of their lives. Pray with us that God keeps them and
strengthens them as they go out and make a difference in their lives and
in their family's lives also.
We would also like for you to pray with us for the following:
1. We are looking for a place in Farmington to serve as a halfway house for the men that graduate from the program here.
2.
That we find businesses and companies who will be open to hiring these
men. It is difficult for them to find jobs due to their past records.
3.
That we find men in the surrounding churches that would be willing to
be mentors to these men while they are at work and in their everyday
lives. To help and encourage them as they continue on with their road
to recovery.
4. That God continues to open doors so that we can minister to the hurting.
With
winter right here upon us we are trying to get fire wood to the elderly
and widowed so they don't have to endure the cold. Christmas is coming
up and the mission can use your donations for our annual "Christmas
Love Gifts" that we hand out to families and children that are in the
boarding school dorms that cannot go home here on the reservation. If

It was hot. It was crowded. We were in the truck headed for the buildings we were to be working on that day when we stopped at an intersection. A man approached our truck and looking into the back, saw the equipment we had brought for the demolition of broken down buildings located on the grounds of a school for the deaf that would need to be torn down before new ones could be built. In his broken English he asked, "You work?" Jonathan replied, "Yes. We have come to work". The man's reaction was so amazing! He didn't ask for money. He didn't beg for food. He looked at them and said, "Thank you! My country is broken!" Then he simply walked away. Everyday we went to work and every day we crossed the intersection that man would yell, "Hey, Jon! Thank you!" Everyday he watched for us. Every day he waited. Sometimes I still hear him. His is one of the many voices pulling at my heart. I must go back.
As we speak, plans are in the works for a return trip to Haiti in November. I am very excited about this and the possibility that my wife will be able to join me this time around. The news stations and the help organizations have begun pulling out from Haiti and the people of Haiti are being forgotten. Life as usual in America is going on. The work in Haiti will be years in the doing. The recovery of Haiti and it's people is slow in coming and is very far off. Due to the fact that the Port Authorities in Haiti have begun refusing to allow shipments to come in, we will have to purchase the items we need when we get down there, but we do not see this as a problem. It's just one more opportunity for God to show His light in such a dark place. Please join with us in helping rebuild Haiti and in showing them our love for them in helping to restore their country one small piece at a time. In doing this, we will be showing them God's love for them as well. Please continue praying that they will be open to this message of grace and love. They are in need and we have a way to help a little. Let's do that.
